Po drugiej stronie słońca/ On the other side of the Sun: Sao Paulo

Na kolejną wycieczkę udałem się na konferencję w pobliżu Sao Paulo. Przy okazji zwiedziłem również to gigantyczne miasto. Jest naprawdę ogromne. Mieszka tutaj według szacunków około 20mln ludzi (połowa populacji Polski!), ale możliwe, że nawet i więcej, ponieważ ilość ludzi mieszkających w favelach (slumsach) jest nie do oszacowania.

W podróży towarzyszyły mi 3 osoby – Guilherme – kolega z AIESEC’u w Porto Alegre, Estefania – koleżanka z Kolumbii, która robiła swoją wymiane w Porto Alegre oraz German (hiszp. Herman) – kolega z Kolumbii, który przyjechał na konferencję. Dzięki Guilhermemu spaliśmy wszyscy w hotelu w centrum Sao Paulo i to za darmo :) Generalnie miasto zrobiło na mnie znacznie bardziej pozytywne wrażenie, niż się spodziewałem. Nie chciałbym jednak mieszkać tam na dłużej ze względu na potężne korki (w godzinach szczytu znacznie szybciej jest poruszać się na piechotę niż samochodem!).

For the next trip I went to a conference close to Sao Paulo. By the way I was able to visit this humongous city. It is huge indeed. Approximately 20 mln people live in the metropolitan area (half of the population of Poland!), but its possible that even more (its really difficult to approximate amount of people living in favelas).

During the trip I had three companions: Guilherme – my friend from Aiesec in Porto Alegre, Estefania – friend from Colombia, which was doing an exchange there, and German (Herman) – friend from Colombia who came for the conference. Thanks to Guilherme we were sleeping for free in a hotel in the centre of Sao Paulo :) Generally the city left much more positive impression on me, than I suspected before. Nevertheless I wouldn’t like to live there for longer time because of gigantic traffic (in the rush hours walking is much faster than commuting by car…).
